FIGHT SKIN PROBLEMS
WITH SUNSCREEN

Winter, with its harsh temperatures, usually has the most impact on your skin. The cold season makes your skin dry, brittle and flaky. The effects of the winter on your skin are not as obvious as in the summer because, unlike in summer, you are usually covered up with your winter clothes. It is only once the winter ends, and you don your summer clothes do you realize the problem of dry and cracked skin.
Summer is usually the season in which you go out on the beach with your bikini or exercise outside with tank tops and shorts. However, wearing these summer clothes might become a problem if your skin is not as healthy as it could be.
To prepare your skin before summer arrives, you can start to rejuvenate your skin with regular exfoliation. This process involves removing the dead cells from your skin’s surface.
Exfoliation is a simple process, normally involving only a loofah or a piece of cloth, like a regular wash-cloth, rubbed against the skin. After exfoliating, you can apply lotions or moisturizers to help moisturize your skin.
While there are many things you can do during the summer to take care of your skin, the most important is using sun protection products to prevent sunburn. These products are available in varying levels of Sun Protection Factor or SPF, which refers to the amount of protection it offers against the sun.
Choosing the right SPF will depend on whether you have fair or dark skin. The fairer your skin, the higher the SPF that you will need. However, everyone should use a sunscreen with at least an SPF of 15 or higher. This will ultimately help in preventing the harmful effects of bright sun’s rays, like skin cancer.
When you apply sunscreen, it is important that you use enough to cover all of your exposed skin. Remember, treating skin cancer is more expensive than buying sunscreen products.
To ensure that the sunscreen works effectively, apply it before going outside. This give the lotion time to soak into the skin, as the protection works better after fifteen to twenty minutes has elapsed.
Also, remember to reapply sunscreen every two hours. When you sweat or go for a swim, the sunscreen becomes less effective, so you must reapply after towelling off to ensure your body remains protected, including any scars. The regimen discussed above is an effective way to take care of your skin and keep it healthy.
